Happy Birthday to Me!

Today, I turn 25 years.... old? Wiser? Or like wine? Get finer with time. Hahaha. Anyway, here are 25 of some of the things that I have learned over the years.

1. Don’t believe the hype too much, life and God will burst your bubble in the blink of an eye.
2. Don’t settle with existing. Live.
3. Family is all that matters.
4. Don’t be too proud to ask for help.
5. Saying no and sticking to it is okay.
6. Make mistakes, again and again, as long as you’ve learned something after you’ve made them.
7. It’s just hair. It’ll grow back!
8. Don’t worry about the things that you have no control of.
9. Get an education---go to school!
10. Be able to laugh at your self.
11. Heck, laugh in general!
12. Believe the hype.
13. Take care of your body! You are only given one.
14. Drink a lot of water!
15. Your heart isn’t always right.
16. Sometimes, chocolate is all you need.
17. Music is therapeutic.
18. Don’t be scared of being alone.
19. A four legged friend (Rocky) can be a life saver.
20. Reading a book is the cheapest way of traveling ANYWHERE.
21. Every day alive is a miracle in itself.
22. Travel! Travel! Travel!
23. Food is great!
24. The internet isn’t completely filled with weirdos ;) (Right, blog fam?!)
25. Spoil your self. You always get what you wanted/needed.

Since I started this blog, I have posted a picture from my previous birthday. Can't wait to see what pictures I take this year!

Fall, Fashion, and the Number 25!

F21 Fall 2011

Versace for H&M Fall 2011

I cannot wait to start shopping for the Fall! It's my favorite time of the year. It's not too cold, it's just right. And nature dresses up in beautiful colors! My favorite "Holiday" is Halloween and it's during that time of the year when my favorite type of movies premiere (Horror/Mystery/Suspense/Thriller). What's your favorite thing about the Fall?

For my 25th Birthday I am treating myself to spa treatments. I have been researching local ones and am very excited! I need it since I have been working non stop since February (meaning no breaks, days off). And Joe (my boyfriend) is treating me to a nice shopping spree at my favorite stores which include the ones shown above. Next week will be my last being 24... Eeek! My brother and his wife will be down here for it, hopefully they can join us in my celebration (dinner, drinks). I want to go bowling as well! Lol this may sound lame to some of you, but this is my kind of thing haha.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend loves!

Chocolate and Buns?

Hey! How is everyone doing? I am alright. Let's get right to it...

Before this job at the hospital, I had been without health insurance for a very long time! We all know how expensive it can be to get coverage if your employer does not offer it. I have been taking full advantage of this. I have been following up with my pcp and got blood work (which had been years! since my last!) I am more anemic than ever! I can tell you all that much. And have been getting migraines almost every weekend for a while now. Those things make me stay in bed or in couch all day and they really suck. Luckily I am managing it all with the help of my lovely doc. who I adore! He actually seems to give a damn. I had a Cat Scan of my head and neck due to the headaches, and my past medical history. I believe that I mentioned it here a while back how I had a Cerebral Aneurysm when I was 12 years old. Today I found out just how rare those are in kids. And it brought tears to my eyes. It just reminded me how lucky I am (we all are) to be alive! I saw a Neurologist today to discuss the results of my test, and everything looks great!!!! Says I shouldn't have a need to have more testing for another 10 years : ) she answered a lot of other questions and for the first time, I met the clip that I have in my head holding it all together in there. I was like 'So that's what you look like!" lol. I'd share the picture but didn't know if any of you would want to see it.

My family is doing alright. My brother's father in law passed away about 1 week and a half ago. My family is very close to my brother's wife's family so, it affected us all. I can't wait to see her and give her a REALLY big hug! I have been wanting to go out just the two of us, and spend the day together and I don't know, just bond more. If my brother's happy, than I automatically love and respect her.

This is my month bitches! I turn 25 on the 26th. Eeeek! I am trying to figure out what I want to do that weekend. I will definitely keep you posted on that when it's either happened, or when it's concrete. You know me, I hate jinxing things. Enjoy these snap shots. Not many, but I cannot update without some eye candy. And this time, it's literal! Yum!

I love my high bun. This one was inspired by Lauren Conrad's cover of her 'Style' book.

My growing nail polish collection.

Buy your favorite tub of ice cream, and a box of cones (preferably waffle cones) and treat yourself to one or more a week! It's cheaper than hitting a stand somewhere.

Oh and how can I forget? Jersey Shore kicks off tonight! I won't be watching it until Saturday though. But I will be fist pumping right along with you guys in my dreams! (Yeah, I go to bed early lol)

Thanksgiving/Weekend

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Mine was great! Family from my mother's side came up from Jersey, Bronx, and Long Island (bro and his wife) I really enjoyed everyone's company. We prayed, ate, sipped, danced, sang, laughed, and took some* pics. I sucked at taking my camera out. When I did, it was interrupted by a group of people singing Happy Birthday, and banging on home made instruments. I was about to start singing too (my brother and father's birthdays are in December a 22/23) when they started to point at me, and it clicked. My birthday was in August, and I guess my family doesn't let one slide haha. Guess what they got me?! Tres leches Dominican cake mmmmmm. I was truly surprised and loved it, it was too funny.

My cousin Genesis was out here and since I had the apartment all to myself, I had her sleep over and we slept on the sofa bed watching tv 'til wee hours of the day. I am such a scardey cat, meow. On Saturday we saw Tangled 3d and wait for my review on that! Enjoy the pictures. They aren't really from that day, just random shots I wanted to share, some are from our trip to Jersey last month to cut a cake for Karla, my cousin's baby girl.

My bros, and cousin.

My oldest brother and my sister in law, his wife.

My cousin Denise and Karla, her daughter.

Tres leche slice of cake ;)

Picture that I bought from Dollar General. It feels like a real painting to the touch, kind of bumpy :)

Birthday Weekend

As I wrote in my previous entry, my 24th birthday was on August 26th. My co workers got me a card and a cute bracelet (I have to take a picture of it to show you) and they baked me cup cakes (red velvet, my fave!) That was the highlight of my actual day. On Friday my boyfriend left work early and took me out for brunch. I was leaving for New York that day, so he dropped me off at the bus terminal.

That Friday I met up with a bff and went to the movies. We watched The Last Exorcism + then had some drinks. Really great times : D Saturday afternoon I met up with Xenia and Kathryn (my two best female friends) and we drove down to Jamaica Ave to catch the E train. I didn't know what we were doing, they wouldn't say. When we made it to the last stop I realized we were going to The World Trade Center. I had mentioned to Xenia how I had never been there before. We went to Ground Zero and into a museum they had around the corner dedicated to 9/11...

We walked around and got some pizza and went inside a accesories store. I was in heaven lol. I bought a necklace. I wanna go back! We then took the train again, and walked around. I saw Outback Steakhouse and thought we were going there, but when we walked past it I looked to my left and said 'Hey, isn't that Lips, the drag queen place?" And they said yeah, and I was like..."Is that where we're going?!" And they laughed and said yeah. Lol I was SO happy! We had a great time! Go if you get the chance! We got a bit tipsy lol. And then went to see Takers. I love my friends, they truly made it an unforgetable weekend! From Friday to Saturday : ) Love you all!
