Movie Review: The Next Three Days

Release date: November 19, 2010 (USA)

This movie in my opinion, is a romance story. It's about never giving up on the ones that you love, having trust in them even when things are shouting at you to do other wise. It's about a man, John Brennan (played by Russell Crowe) who's wife Lara Brennan (Elizabeth Banks) is arrested and sentenced to 20 years in jail for the murder of her boss. When John finds himself with a broken family and is forced to face several years alone raising his son, and Lawyer and family telling him to move on, that she'd never come home, he decides to take things into his own hands. Does he succeed in getting his wife out? Do they stay out or get caught? Those are the questions that you'll have raising through your mind.

I enjoyed the film but, it took more than half of it for the action to begin.I wished that it would've been a mix of the two. I warn you, do not watch it expecting to see explosions and gun fights from the get go. There is a lot of dialouge building up to it. I wished that I would've waited until it was on demand. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but I think I went into it expecting too much?

I give it 2 stars
1 star: This was torture.
2 stars: Room for improvement.
3 stars: Pretty good!
4 stars: Wow!
5 stars: A must see!

Movie Review:

Entre Nos (2009)

This movie is available on Netflix and has the option to "Watch Now", which is what I did. I have always been a fan of latin films, actually, foreign films in general. I love that they usually are more raw than the American films.

This movie in particular is based on actual facts. I won't ruin how or why the film was made. You find that out at the very end. I had a moment of gasping and covering my mouth and a little bit of watery eyes when I found out. The movie shows how an Immigrant mother has to find a means of survival not just for her self but for her children, after being abandoned by her kid's father. They go through a lot! Along the way they meet some people, that help make the journey a little bit easier. While watching I couldn't help but think that no matter how hard life is, we are never alone.

(Mariana seen here with Gabriel and Andrea after being evicted from their apartment.)

I think that this is a movie that many women can relate to, regardless of their legal status in this country. The role of 'Mariana', (the mother) was played by, Paola Mendoza whom I remembered from her well acted role in the film 'On The Outs', where she played a drug addict (you can find this film in NetFlix as well). The role of "Andrea" was played by, Laura Montana and, her older brother "Gabriel" was, Sebastian Villada. I don't think that Mariana would've fought as hard as she did if it wouldn't had been for her children. They were the legs that she needed to keep going. Then again, I don't think neither of them would of made it without each other. A beautiful example of what you can achieve with the love and support of a family.
Check the movie out. I really enjoyed it.

I give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.
1 star: This was torture.
2 stars: Room for improvement.
3 stars: Pretty good!
4 stars: Wow!
5 stars: A must see!

Movie Review: RED

RED: Retired and Extremely Dangerous. I saw this movie last week. I knew that it was an action film, but it was also very funny. Not "stupid" funny (think of those Another Teen Movie types, which I hate). I enjoyed the cast very much and, they worked very well together. Other than the actor's mentioned in the picture, Mary-Louise Parker, better known for her leading role on Showtime's 'Weeds', was in it. I don't know why, but her role kind of annoyed me, but towards the middle/end it grew on me. Bruce oh Bruce, he never fails. John was so funny! Watch out for his "Piggy". Hellen's character was great! Shows that women can be just as bad ass if not more ;) than men. Morgan's character was very close to Bruce's and kind of the fatherly figure to them all. I love a good action film, if you do too, then this one is a must! I found myself thinking, I hope it's not over soon, because I was that into it.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
1 star: This was torture.
2 stars: Room for improvement.
3 stars: Pretty good!
4 stars: Wow!
5 stars: A must see!

Movie Review: The Social Network

This weekend I went and saw this movie with a friend. I really didn't know what to expect. The first few minutes kind of had me like okay, I don't know about this. Up until the end of the scene which in my opinion, set the tone for the rest of the film. If you're into action duh, this is not that type of film! It does have a lot of funny moments. I enjoy sarcasm and that "smart assy" (my word lol) type of funny, in films. It's really amazing how a small group of people can change the world and the way that we connect with one another. I said "group" because if something hadn't happened, then he wouldn't had came up with the idea. I found myself really annoyed with him at times, and then feeling pity for him as well. Him being Mark, the main character. This movie proves that people may be great "friends" when doing a project together, but, once money becomes involved, things can get messy and pretty ugly. I think the movie was pretty long. I don't think it dragged though. Some long movies are long because of uneccessary chit chat. Everything in the film needed to be there. The actors did their jobs well, and they physically resembled the person they were portraying. I recommend it. With that said.

I give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.
1 star: This was torture.
2 stars: Room for improvement.
