Get on the floor

Joe and I were talking the other day, and it hit me that our 1 year anniversary living at our house will be next month. April was a crazy month for us, with my losing my job a few days after we moved here, it was scary.

Since moving here our lives have changed so much! In July we found out that we would be parents, and here we are in March and he's here with us! The first thing that this house needed was PAINT. They had every single room painted a ugly ugly beige color, and the played out red accent wall in the livingroom. We are still working on the finishing touches. Since Joe hates painting, I was the one doing most of it. Needless to say with the pregnancy and the short bout of job less induced depression, I just didn't have it in me to continue painting. But now I am back! And with it comes our next project. Getting rid of these hideous and filthy, dusty carpets! You can get a peek of them in the picture below.

On Saturday we stopped by a local flooring showcase room or whatever its called, and picked out our favorite samples. We went with these three (By the way, we are going with the Laminate wood flooring, not hardwood). We chose dark, light, and medium tone. I really like the medium (last one to the right), but Joe and a friend like the light wood (middle).  What do you think? I just don't want the house to look small or too dark. Our walls are light colors.

I've been googling...

this is a sample of how the flooring on the right (chesapeake walnut 2) looks installed.

this is a sample of the flooring in the middle (tanned oak 3)

I wont even post the first one because it no longer is in the running. But if you're wondering the color is Chocolate Cafe Rosewood U1312. Its too dark. Its something that I'd like for a few weeks and then want o-u-t--OUT!

To be continued...

BABY, YOURE A FIREWORK.

I was lucky enough to be able to snap some pictures while Joe and I's family was here. The pictures are of our god children/niece and nephew Ethan 5 years old, and Ava 1y 6month old. You also see appearances from their parents, Vanesa and Jeffrey, my fiance's brother. You also sorta see my fiance. That's his arm in the last picture, and you can see him standing with Ethan, and his brother watching the sort of kid friendly-but not really kid friendly, fireworks.

I will keep uploading more, and will share them with you as I go. I took a lot of the fireworks. I love to do that. Sometimes you end up with cool effects without even having to do anything with your camera. That's the type of photo taker that I am. I like to stand back, and let everyone do their natural thing, and I just snap away. I also don't like to edit the pictures TOO much. As cliche' as it might sound, I like to keep things real.  Not knocking anyone who edits a lot.

I am a beginner, and am learning as I go. In the near future I hope to share with you the other half of this blog. My photography blog. Its a working process.

As for my personal life, I am doing well. Got some things going on, and many things to look forward to. I will share all of those with you sooner than later, I promise! Also, expect more Vlogs! I love making those. Its funny when you look back at your younger self in videos. The way you talked, the things you said. I laugh at myself, and I enjoy it : )

I hope you're well! If not, then trust me it will get better! Just give it time. Kisses! Kisses!

PS. This heat has got to go! That is all.

OOTD

A girlfriend of mine from my old job set up a movie date. It had been a few weeks since we last saw each other. This was on Tuesday. It was a hot, hot day. I knew that I didnt want to wear jeans, or anything long, so I went with this tribal print dress. It is one f my favorites because I can wear it many, many, ways. I'm sure you'll see it again, since I can dress it up according to the Season.  I've even worn it as a top! The options are endless. Whoops I got sidetracked (common) we were originally set to watch Monsters University 3D. That quickly changed because I was fashionably late to our get together, so instead we ended up watching World War Z, and I loved it. I cannot wait until it is available on RedBox. I know you're thinking "Why were you late Cindia?" See what had happened was... after I grabbed my car keys, I realized that I hadn't put my engagement ring back on after seasoning the meat I was going to cook for dinner... I went to where I usually store it whenever I am cleaning and it wasn't there. I searched everywhere! Even in the places that you would never store a ring. Nope. Nada. Zip.  I cried. I decided to step away and keep the movie date, and come back with a fresh mind, and take my time looking for it. I just hoped that Joe wouldnt find it before me.

When I got back home, I couldn't keep it from him. I told him what happened. He was like "What? You lost a (insert price here) ring?!" He then helped me look for it. He said that he knew something was up because I was too quiet (side eye.) I was in the kitchen doing dishes (I clean when Im angry, or nervous etc) and he comes in and asks "Still haven't found it?" He had his hand near his face, and what do ya know? He has the ring! I was VERY happy. I wouldn't want any other ring. This one is very special, and meaningful. I am sure you will notice the Forever21 ring (So is the bracelet) that I wore instead. This is my very first ootd, so be kind. I will get the hang of it. It was kind of awkward posing for my fiancee. It doesn't help that he does not like the camera.

I'll end this here. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

NOT ABOUT THAT LIFE

Keeping up with a house is no joke. But, it always brings a great feeling when you see it all coming together. My past few weeks have been filled with googling new recipes to try, food shopping, cleaning here and there, laundry, dishwashing (I am not about that life lol ;) , I want a dishwasher! We joke about our wishlists being filled with household appliances, oh how priorities change.)

I have also been the chaffeur of my parents whenever they need to go to their appointments. The only time that I mind is when its to go see their primary care physician, they take forever to see you there. My father went through another eye surgery, this time for his right eye. His retina detached. The doc says that it can happen if you sneeze, cough, heavy lifting, etc etc. Poor man, he couldnt see at all (He is to have surgery for his left eye as well. Diabetes is no joke.) As for my health, I popped my left arm last night while stretching, and now I have a pinched nerve. It feels like my arm weighs a lot, numbing, and tingly feeling in my hands. I have been taking Naproxen for the inflamation, and putting cold and warm compress. No bueno.

As for the photographs, I love watching Joe taking care of the lawn. Its his weekend hobby. Who would've guessed that a guy from the Bronx would be mowing, weeding, and gutter cleaning. Not long ago when my mother and I were gardening, we noticed that we had roses blooming. They are beautiful, and I love the contrast of the brick wall. I have been trying to go back to eating more furits, instead of junk food. I do not want to gain back all of the weight that I lost. Its tough without working, and not as much physical activity. If you haven't met him yet, that is my heart, Rocky. He's a 6 y.o chihuahua/jack russel mix, and he is spooooiled by me, and especially Joe. You really should see the two of them. It melts my heart. As for the other pictures, they are pretty self explanatory. Cooking, and treats received in the mail.

I hope that you're having a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping by!

Remember to breathe.

The past weeks I have been on a little emotional rollercoaster. I find mysself in these "I don't want to talk to anyone, I dont want to text, I just want to be." Of course I talk to my fiance. Thankfully, I have some understanding people in my life. Depression wise, I am doing way better. Anxiety is still here. I have anxiety attacks in the morning, sometimes before going to sleep, and at random times throught the day. I just remind myself to breathe. I find myself not breathing sometimes.

Unto some happier bits. I hosted a small dinner party, the guests were my cousins Malvina, and Genesis, Malvina's boyfriend, and Liam their 8 month old son, and my godson, my bfriend Valeria joined us. It was a nice time, the boys were in the livingroom, and the girls were eating in the diningroom, sharing stories, and a lot of laughs. I made chicken parm, with biscuits and it was pretty good. Easy to make as well. Genesis made an oreo ice cream cake, and it was delicious! I think I will make it myself, but add a twist to it. I hope to share that with you guys. In pictures of course, if I could send you a bowl, I would. Trust me.

Now unto the pictures from that very night. You'll see how adorable, cute, curly, chunky, my godson is. I just want to bite his cheeks lol. I love him, my pollito.

Fell in love with a dandelion.

It feels like the people that were once very active on here (the ones that I followed) aren't updating much or at all. Yet, it makes me feel free. I am writing as if noone will be reading my entries but me. But ofcourse, this is the internet, and you are never really alone, and I am okay with that. I mean, you have to be if you're running a blog.

The past few days have been, unproductive to say the least. I don't know if I am getting depressed or if it has anything to do with the fact that I haven't been keeping up with my happy pills as prescribed. Don't worry, I am reminding myself to do so, if not then my body, and emotions are a loud reminder. I am trying to remain positive. I have been walking around a lot lately. I grab the leash and my walking buddy gets excited and comes with me. I just dont want to come down with cabin fever. Plus, sunlight is a natural way to get happy. It helps that our neighborhood is a beautiful and peaceful one. It also helps that every car that passes by, the driver waves, or greets me with a smile. I also get the oppurtunity of meeting and chatting with our neighbors. Rocky attracts a lot of attention. I think he has a crush on a yellow labrador retriever that lives around the corner. I love walking and soaking up the beauty that is nature. The flowers that are blooming on the trees. Soon they will fall, and bright green leaves will take their place. I took my cellphone along for the walk today. I captured some beautiful pictures that you will find at the end of the post.

Joe is turning into such a handy man when it comes to the yard, the gutters, the basement. Its funny to see him wake up early on a Saturday because "the lawn must be mowed." Its sexy.

My parents came over last week. Mami helped me clean and organize. Well, it was mostly her telling me how things should be organized in the kitchen cabinets. I didn't argue. My younger self would have, just to be stubborn. Instead, I agreed, or gave her a reasonable reason as to why I need these cups on the lower level of the top shelf because we use those everyday. We make a good team. Papi, was in the livingroom watching ESPN, and eating fruit that I served him. He wants to come by because he bought me some flowers and he wants us to plant them in the front of the house. I think that is so cute.

I have noticed that my taste in blogs have changed. I used to solemly follow makeup and beauty related blogs. I have unfollowed many, and only kept the ones that offer a variety of material, ie: fashion, lifestyle, home decor. This explains why I have joined the community of Bloglovin. I want to mess with it, and see what blogs I bump into.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend! Maybe I'll update before the end of it...

See what I mean? Breathtakingly beautiful.

I made a wish. Those things flew around me all the way home. Good sign?

Chocolate and God

What's happening? I am okay. Keeping myself busy. Surprisingly I haven't been oversleeping. I don't know whether to blame, or thank Rocky (our dog) for that. He wakes up like clockwork between 10:15-10:30am. He's funny, and persistant!

Tomorrow, I have to go to the community college, and prove that I am a US Citizen. My certificate has my birthday as 8/26/2086. So, bow down biatches because I am from the future! ;) I kid. I kid. Afterwards I will go to the library, to check out something for my mother, and if they have it, I'll rent it. Umm.. What else? Let me just share some pictures, those always make updating you easier. Enjoy!

To keep with our budget, I have been cooking everyday. I even baked
yesterday, and made this 2 tier chocolate cake w/ sprinkles! Yummy.

Okay. We cheated last weekend, but I was craving this triple decker
turkey club. It is so good! Ha, its a work of art, right? Again, yum!

We had a little visitor yesterday. What a cutie.

= what keeps me going, baby!

Other than that, I am still painting walls. I have moved into the dining room. I can't wait till its done. I love the colors that I chose. Don't worry, I have been taking plenty of pictures as I go along.

Okay, to bed I go. Tomorrow will be my last day covered by the old job insurance (can you believe they wanted $615 a month if I decided to keep it?! Theyre crazy.) This is only temporary. This is only temporary. Good night, and have a lovely day.

Tick Tock

So much has happened. I am sure that I am not the only one that knows how drastically things can change in a matter of days, hours, minutes--you get the point.
4/3/2013 Move out of the apartment into the house.
4/16/2013 Got laid off from work.
4/23/2013 Stressed out and emotionally unstable. Thankful for all of the support from my friends and family. I am putting on my brave face, but inside I am a mess. I trust God, and he must have a great plan for me. Even if I cry, and waiver, I trust You.

These are a few of my favorite things...

This week was my last week on "orientation", which means that on Monday, I will be on my own. Well, if I ever have questions, I have other unit clerks to ask, but you know what I mean. Right? I have had a lot of practice in the Trauma side of thangs. I have seen three deaths, ages from just being born, three, and seventeen. All very, very sad. May they all rest in peace.

Other than that, things have been good on my side of the world. It's that time again to have little visits with my dentist. Take care of your teeth people! Nasty teeth, and breath is not cute. Another important thing that I did this week, was go to my college, and started my financial aid process. Some things have changed, like, you can no longer use your tax paperwork that the preparer gives you, you need a transcript from the IRS. Que? What? Smh. But, whatever, I requested mine, and it should be here some time next week. I just wanted to get this over with, and register for my classes. I like having first dibs, and having the schedule of my choice. Yep. Cause I'm a princess. Lol I kid, I kid!

I leave you with a few pictures. They are all of some of my favorite things. Enjoy, and have a great week!

This bad boy is so good to me!

Art cures my soul.

Yep. Six months into the year, and I decide to put up my calendar.

This magazine always, always inspires me. I miss the old cover though.

Our new/old place for the mail (and coupons to grab
when we're out the door since I always forget!)

Abby's favorite snack of the moment. Green apples.

Rocky's favorite nap spot.

My favorite cereal (for now)

My all time favorite nude polishes (Essie's Sand Tropez is missing).
