NOT ABOUT THAT LIFE

Keeping up with a house is no joke. But, it always brings a great feeling when you see it all coming together. My past few weeks have been filled with googling new recipes to try, food shopping, cleaning here and there, laundry, dishwashing (I am not about that life lol ;) , I want a dishwasher! We joke about our wishlists being filled with household appliances, oh how priorities change.)

I have also been the chaffeur of my parents whenever they need to go to their appointments. The only time that I mind is when its to go see their primary care physician, they take forever to see you there. My father went through another eye surgery, this time for his right eye. His retina detached. The doc says that it can happen if you sneeze, cough, heavy lifting, etc etc. Poor man, he couldnt see at all (He is to have surgery for his left eye as well. Diabetes is no joke.) As for my health, I popped my left arm last night while stretching, and now I have a pinched nerve. It feels like my arm weighs a lot, numbing, and tingly feeling in my hands. I have been taking Naproxen for the inflamation, and putting cold and warm compress. No bueno.

As for the photographs, I love watching Joe taking care of the lawn. Its his weekend hobby. Who would've guessed that a guy from the Bronx would be mowing, weeding, and gutter cleaning. Not long ago when my mother and I were gardening, we noticed that we had roses blooming. They are beautiful, and I love the contrast of the brick wall. I have been trying to go back to eating more furits, instead of junk food. I do not want to gain back all of the weight that I lost. Its tough without working, and not as much physical activity. If you haven't met him yet, that is my heart, Rocky. He's a 6 y.o chihuahua/jack russel mix, and he is spooooiled by me, and especially Joe. You really should see the two of them. It melts my heart. As for the other pictures, they are pretty self explanatory. Cooking, and treats received in the mail.

I hope that you're having a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping by!

Le Sigh...

The Summer may be a perfect time for weddings. But, feel free to call me weird because my first choice would be the Fall. Eloping has been a thought of ours for a couple of years now. I honestly don't think that I can handle all of that big wedding stuff. And I think that a lot of people tend to forget what it's really about. To share your love with your loved ones; in my opinion. I really want a simple rusty-chic, French Country, romantic themed wedding. In a barn or an old Estate. I close my eyes and I can see it.

We want it to be very small. Intimate. I was once advised to only invite those that I know will be in our lives ten years from the day. Nice, but my motto is to invite those that have shared our journey. Those that have been there for us, not just couple wise, but individually. I already shared this with my parents. Coming from a Dominican family, we tend to invite everyone and their mama to parties and such. Well, our pockets and hearts aren't for that.

It is only natural to look into probable dress options for both the civil wedding, and then our reception. I mean, duh!

My Fall Must Have!

I love love love the Fall! It is hands down, my favorite time of the year. I am pretty darn sure that I have said this before, so I won't repeat the reasons why, other than one: The fashion. I love to dress up in layers, oversized sweaters, boots, scarves, pea coats, etc. And the colors! I love wearing a bold darker lip, and keeping my eye makeup minimal. Anyway, let me share my must have for this season:

Booties! Booties! Booties! I love them! I own a few actually, but those have heels. And, this year I plan to be fearless and wear them out every chance I get! Yes, I admit, sometimes I tend to be shy about expressing myself to my full potential when it comes to fashion, I don't know why. But the older that I get, the more that I let go and come out of my shell. But, back to the shoes. These are my flattest pair. You can wear them with dresses as I modeled for you in the pictures. You can wear them with jeans, with shorts, with long socks, with stockings, leggings, the possibilities are endless!

I didn't end up getting that orange dress. I regret it. I could've worn it this season with a black moto jacket, necklaces, or scarves, dark stockings and boots. And in the Spring/Summer with nude sandals or wedges. But, whatevs let me stop talking about it before I drive to the store! Just in case you're wondering what dressing room I was in: H&M.  What is your Fall must have?

Cheap Thrills

Here are some things I have purchased from Marshalls, and GoodWill. I also joined Glossy Box, and received my first box. I haven't tried any of the other monthly beauty boxes, because they didn't really capture my attention--until now.

I can't wait to buy (or snip away some of my mami's flowers) and put them into one of my new vases!

My week was a good one. I hope yours was too : ) Have a great weekend!

Goodwill Hunting.

I got the urge to stop by one of the local goodwill stores, and I was beyond happy that I did. I am into jean jackets for the Spring, and the Fall, they are perfect! I have a dark blue jean color, and I needed a lighter one. I shopped around online, and they were kind of pricey (the dark blue one I found for $9 in an outlet store!) and I am trying to keep my spending to a minimum. I found one by The Gap, for $6! And, I love it! I didn't take a picture of the clothes that I got, but, here are the purses. They were $4.97 each. The smaller pink one is real leather : ) Enjoy the pics!

Decorations and Recuperation...

Christmas decorations 2011. Joe picked the snow man, I picked the fat snowball for our fatty guinea pig Abby, Joe picked the teddy bear for Rocky since he loves them (I found it in Rocky's mouth one day smh) and the Eiffel Tower is mine : ) So are the Uggs, theyre my Christmas present from Joe. I got him the Xbox 360 Kinect, and he got me Just Dance 3, and I got myself Dance Central 2, I think it's called.

----------------------------------------

I have been MIA with a good enough reason. I had my surgery! It was on 12/22/2011. We got there at around 5:40 am. I was accompanied by my mom, dad, and Joe (boyfriend). I changed into my gown, they tried to put my iv line in and failed (I have really bad veins). They took me back and I got in a bed in the waiting area, with a whole bunch of other people awaiting surgery. My family was able to join me (at last). We waited until 7:45am and we said our see you laters. I was trying so hard not to cry because my mother was already starting to do so. I told her "Mami, no llore" (mami don't cry) as I was being wheeled away by the anesthesiologist, and a nurse. They took me into the surgery room which was cold as ice. I saw my GYN and she held my hand as the anesthesiologist got my iv in, and put in the medicine. About 1 minute later, my other surgeon came in and said hello. I felt the effects of the drug and knocked out.

The first thing that I remember after waking up, is severe cramping, and complaining about it. I knocked out again, and woke up to the doctor by my side, telling me that due to my bleeding, I would need a blood transfusion. He spoke to me about the surgery and everything else. I was now in the recovery area, thirsty as hell, and with other patients. I would fall in and out of sleep, and nurses at my side ever so often. I really just wanted to be put in a room and reunite with my family. The surgery lasted an hour longer, so it totaled 5 hours. After two pints of blood, some water being given to me from a sponge (it felt as if I had not drank in days weeks even!) around 5 1/2 hours later, I was in a room, and my family was able to come in and see me.

They stayed for about an hour so. I was exhausted and wanted to sleep. My evening nurse was my favorite (Nikki) she was a sweetheart, and I am very thankful for her. That first night wasn't as bad, I had my button that I could press whenever I had pain, and it would give me pain relief. About 6 am the next day, I had to get up and walk around with the help of Nikki. It was the shortest, yet longest walk of my life. I had to get an incision on my bikini line, after the laparoscopic procedure failed due to my bleeding and the size of my fibroid (I found out today that it weighed 1 pound!) I would be in bed for most of my time at the hospital, now being able to get up (with help) to pee a little at a time. I refused to let my body decide that Id have to come home with a catheter. The rest of the time, I had to get up and walk. Joe was/and has been very patient, and helpful. You really fall in love all over again with someone when things like this happen.

I came home late afternoon of Christmas eve. Needless to say it was a sore, painful, uncomfortable, frustrating, yet thankful Christmas. You never hate coughing/sneezing/walking as much as you do after any abdominal procedure. It has been a very emotional, and long journey but here I am, on medical leave. I have 4 more weeks left. I am trying to relax as much as possible, and to just take it easy. I still can't lift anything over 10 lbs, so my poor baby Rocky breaks my heart when he begs, and cries for me to do so, but soon I'll be back to me. A new improved me haha. Happy New Year!!

Bargain Hunting

I remember that many of you liked my Jeffrey Campbell Tick booties. Well, I was looking through my emails, and got one from this website, and they have a similar style. These aren't peep toe which is convenient for the Winter weather (eventhough the Tick ones can be worn with stockings during colder days) The bigger difference between the two, is the price!

The Tick bootie can go for more than $100

This pair is only $36.90 (they have a little sale going on)

Happy shopping!

These are a few of my favorite things...

Hello! How has everyone been? I've been alright. To start off I want to say thank you oh so very much for all of the lovely birthday wishes! You are the best of the best! Really, it meant a lot. My birthday was a rather chill one. I blame it all on mother nature. Why? Well, I got my period on the day of! And maybe this is TMI but, I was miserable and uncomfortable. Joe and I still went out for dinner, and enjoyed each other's company. I got to see my family as well. My brother and his wife were visiting, so that was nice. The plan was to go bowling on Saturday, but the first 2 days on my period, are the heaviest, along with other symptoms. I wasn't up for it. Blah. I know, how lame of me? And then on Sunday, the weather was cray cray with Miss Irene spending part of the day here, after having spent the night.

Today Friday, I took the day of from work. And just relaxed, mixed in with cleaning, and cooking. So, I'll be enjoying a four day weekend. Music to my ears. Tomorrow will be a day filled with laundry, and shopping : ) Can't wait! Anyway, enjoy some of my favorite things (in pictures)!

1. The beauty products that I've been using lately.
2. My "go to" brushes drying.
3. A plant that my mami gave me a few months ago, for good luck.
4. Birthday gifts to my self (spa day is on hold lol) my Jeffrey Campbell shoes.
5. Joe is helping save Tigers (donations) and he got this as a gift. His name? Tiger, ha!
6. Yep. I got Naked.
7. I love Glamour magazine! It's my all time favorite!

Fall, Fashion, and the Number 25!

F21 Fall 2011

Versace for H&M Fall 2011

I cannot wait to start shopping for the Fall! It's my favorite time of the year. It's not too cold, it's just right. And nature dresses up in beautiful colors! My favorite "Holiday" is Halloween and it's during that time of the year when my favorite type of movies premiere (Horror/Mystery/Suspense/Thriller). What's your favorite thing about the Fall?

For my 25th Birthday I am treating myself to spa treatments. I have been researching local ones and am very excited! I need it since I have been working non stop since February (meaning no breaks, days off). And Joe (my boyfriend) is treating me to a nice shopping spree at my favorite stores which include the ones shown above. Next week will be my last being 24... Eeek! My brother and his wife will be down here for it, hopefully they can join us in my celebration (dinner, drinks). I want to go bowling as well! Lol this may sound lame to some of you, but this is my kind of thing haha.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend loves!
